Ever thought how you could make a lasting contribution to the railway?
The answer is to contribute to a new Great Eastern Railway bench for one of our newly restored stations. Right up until the time of closure each station still had at least one of these benches on each station.
Each bench is made in just the same way as the originals were over 120 years ago. Cast iron ends and red Canadian pine for the wooden sections, all shaped correctly and to the original dimensions.
A complete bench costs around £300 depending on the current price of scrap iron and wood (which has to be imported specially for the job). Each station will require a number of benches, we are not asking for people to buy a whole bench (great if you could) but to contribute to purchase either a bench for each station or more if we can. Rather than dedicate a bench to a person we are suggesting a 'roll of honour' listing all that have contributed that will be displayed in Ongar Station.
If you can please dig deep sending your donations (cheques make payable to EORVS) to the EORVS Treasurer (Epping Ongar Railway, Ongar Station, Station Approach, Ongar, Essex CM5 9BN) marking it for the bench fund. We currently have the funds for four benches; one from a close friend of the railway's 60th birthday collection. How many more can we provide?

Sponsor a Lever
For something a little more special perhaps consider sponsorship of a lever. Recipients will receive a personalised certificate, voucher for a (single) tour of the box on members' day or other mutually convenient time, which will include having a pull of a lever, guided tour of the locking room and to see the restoration (or operation - depending on when they come) in action. There will also be the opportunity to have the sponsor's name featured on the lever.

Corporate sponsorship may be interested in our sponsorship of a signal. Price for this will be on enquiry via , Head of Signalling.
