If you're looking for somewhere unusual to have a delicious supper of curry, pie & mash or fish & chips then the Epping Ongar Railway's evening dining trains are the perfect place for you. We can cater for singles, couples, families and even larger groups who want to celebrate a special anniversary, birthday or just a great time with friends. With an onboard bar, a two-course meal and entertainment provided by our in-house magician, John Clayton, for just £25 per head for food and travel - you can have a great night out without breaking the bank.

The price of £25 provides for 2 return trips by train from North Weald to Ongar, hauled by steam or diesel according to crews and locomotive availability. You can arrive from 6.30pm and the trains leave North Weald at 7pm prompt. On arrival at Ongar your main course will be served at your table. There is a bar on board. the evening ends at around 9.20pm when you arrive back at North Weald for the second time.

Drivers can claim a single free soft drink from the bar by showing us their car keys and ticket.

This is our Fish & Chip night and is our most popular dining train - so popular we have increased the number of trains during the year. If you'd rather have sausage and chips or a vegetarian option please let us know at the time of booking. The price includes a dessert which is typically ice-cream.

The Cockney Sparrow

24 June & 12 August

This is our Pie & Mash night. Robbins from Wansted deliver this top quality food direct to the Railway. Your meal is a no-expense spared 'double pie & mash', served at your table - with liquor and perhaps a spoonful of jellied eels and of course a ride on a heritage train. For may this is perfection on rails! If you'd like a vegetarian option please let us know at the time of booking. The price includes a dessert which is typically ice-cream.

The Poppadum Prairie

10 June, 8 July & 26 August

This is our curry night. This two-course meal comprises a starter of poppadum & pickles followed by a main course of curry, rice, naan bread, samosa and an onion bhaji. The standard curry is chicken, but there is a vegetarian alternative - please let us know at the time of booking. If you've room for one, you can buy an ice-cream from us at Ongar Station when we arrive the second time around.
