Friday 1 - Sunday 3 August

Beer Festival with Live Music

Two men serving real ale

A range of cask beers available all weekend, alongside live music. Trains running into the evening on Saturday.

Bar opening times: Friday 1200 - 1730, Saturday 1200 - 2130, Sunday 1200 - 1730.

Buses run regularly from Epping Underground station - the last bus to Epping will be at 1800 (2100 Saturday).

Train times are available on our timetables page.

We are pleased to present the list of beer we have ordered. Many of these have particular Railway themes. Three of these refer to steam locomotives; Brentwood's Gobbler is named after the F5 steam locomotives that ran on the line until 1957; Dominion Brewery's Prairie, named after the Epping Ongar Railway's own '4141' steam locomotive, and Buntingford's 92 Squadron, a powerful Pacific steam locomotive that used to haul holiday trains to the South West from Waterloo.

Friday 8 - Sunday 10 August - Peppa Pig & GEORGE

Peppa pig and George visit the railway

On 8, 9 and 10 August Peppa Pig and George will be visiting the Epping Ongar Railway. They will be making personal appearances at intervals throughout the day and to make the day even more fun there will be face-painting, a petting farm, bouncy castles, magicians and of course steam and diesel trains.

The cheeky little piggies will be meeting and greeting the children at North Weald Station at intervals throughout the day. Do come and say hello to Peppa Pig and George. They are celebrating 10 years of Muddy Puddles, so bring your wellies and join in the fun!

A family ticket, bought in advance online costs just £36 (a saving of £4 over the on the day price) and gives all day entry for two adults and up to three children. Other ticket prices bought in advance (on the day prices are in brackets) are adults £13 (£14), concessions £11 (£12) and children over 2 £7 (£8).

Last year, outside of the Christmas season, two of the busiest days of the year were when Peppa Pig visited the Railway. Book your train tickets in advance to be sure of getting the best value fares. We're putting on extra buses to provide more seats for the passengers and remember that we also run direct buses from Shenfield Station.”

Peppa Pig & George - with appearances at intervals throughout the day. Plus other activities for children.

                                                                           Book tickets online now!

Friday 29 - Sunday 31 August  - End of Summer Fair

Come to the railway and join in by having lots of fun at our traditional  'End of Summer fair'. In addition to spectacular rides through beautiful Essex countryside on our heritage steam and diesel  trains, we will be providing fun for all of the family with a selection of fairground attractions. Whilst at the fair, why not partake in a glass or two of cider from our Summer Cider Festival. All in all, a perfect opportunity to enjoy a day out celebrating the end of summer.

Sunday 7 September - Trains & Planes

We join forces with North Weald Airfield again, this year's event is themed "Wings Over Europe - Remembering D-Day". Trains in operation as well a shuttle buses from Epping Underground Station to the railway and the airfield event.

Sunday 14 September - Classic Car Rally

Classic car owners across Essex will be getting all steamed up at Epping Ongar Railway. With vehicles painstakingly restored, we hope to have up to 50 cars in attendance, from classics to sports cars.

Saturday 20 - Sunday 21 September
Autumn Diesel Gala Plus Real Ale

All weekend our diesel fleet will be hauling trains up and down our challenging gradients. There will be opportunities for cab rides on our main line diesel locomotives.

Our first guest is Class 73 73114, courtesy of the Battlefield Line. This is likely to be the loco's first off-site appearance since its arrival at Shackerstone and into preservation. It will also be appearing in its new livery!

We are also delighted to be welcoming back Class 33 "Dennis G Robinson" 33202 after 12 months away from the line. This loco is likely to be moved back to its owner's private facilities for the winter, so is the perfect opportunity to catch this loco again on EOR metals if you couldn't attend last year's gala.

The EOR ex-main line fleet will be represented once again by 37029, 31438, 47635 "Jimmy Milne" (celebrating her 50th birthday,)  and 205205. We also plan to have 03119 in service following its engine overhaul. 03170 is currently undergoing attention to its rods; should these be completed in time, we will bring back the popular double-headed 03 trains that proved popular at our first gala last autumn.

Stands presently attending are from the Network SouthEast Railway Society - who will also be supporting 'Chris Green' at a book signing event, where you will have the opportunity to purchase a signed copy of the book Chris Green co-wrote with Mike Vincent, "The Network SouthEast Story" - and Bufferbeam Ltd. Any person or group wishing to bring a stall or sales stand should contact 47635@live.com

Regular heritage buses will be operating from Epping and Shenfield stations, and our evening services will be operating on Saturday evening. The on-board bar will be open, serving a selection of snacks, locally-sourced ales and ciders, and other non-alcoholic beverages.

The timetable will be available soon. Please watch our news page and social media sites for updates.
