Epping Ongar Railway has teamed up with Harlow Council to run a special vintage bus service number 396. This special service will use the iconic red and green heritage London buses three days a week from Harlow bus station starting from 4 August 2012 for a trial period until1 September 2012.

Vintage buses like this will be running the 396 service from Harlow Bus Station to the heritage railway station at North Weald from 3rd August til 1st Sept
Residents can get their tickets from Harlow Bus Station’s Travel Kiosk, including all three experiences – all day travel on the 396 and the 339 buses from the railway to Epping town centre plus travel behind a diesel and steam locomotive (subject to operational availability). The ticket gives residents complete flexibility for a great day out to suit all ages, riding through attractive countryside and exploring the picturesque historic towns of Ongar or Epping before making the trip back to Harlow, all in one ticket. Tickets for the trip cost £7 child, £11 concession, £13 adult and £34 family.
Councillor Tony Durcan, Harlow’s Portfolio Holder for Regeneration & Enterprise, said: “Many of our older residents, including some who moved from London in 1950s will remember travelling on the old London buses and riding on a stream train and now they have the opportunity to share that experience with their families. I’m sure this is going to be a popular attraction this summer. It’s certainly been a very long time since a London Bus has travelled through Harlow! At Harlow bus station there is now a range of extended services offering residents new experiences and this is all part of the improvements we are making.”
Don’t miss the bus – The 396 service will be running from 3rd Aug until 1st Sept, and there will be a special visitor to Harlow Bus Station on 2nd & 3rd Aug… come on down and find out more….
